BOREN, JAMES E.

Services for Western artist James Boren, formerly of Oklahoma City, will be today in his hometown of Clifton, Texas.

Boren died Friday [April 6, 1990] in a California hospital. He was 68.

Boren was art director for the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center from 1965 to 1969. His works have been shown in galleries throughout the United States and as far away as Paris and China.

Boren was a past president of the Cowboy Artists of America and a trustee of the Cowboy Artists of America Museum, which maintains a gallery of members’ works in Kerrville, Texas.

Services are at 2 p.m. today in Clifton under the direction of the Clifton Funeral Home.

Boren is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Boren of Clifton; his father, John D. Boren Sr. of Duncanville, Texas; a son, John Boren of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Nancy Solohubow of The Colony, Texas; and four brothers, J.D. Boren of Teton Village, Wyo.; Jodie Boren of Abilene, Texas; Dr. Paul Boren of Kerrville; and Maxie Boren of Longview, Texas.
