BOONE, FRANK O.
Sergeant Frank O. Boone, 21, of near Bloomsburg, was killed in action [September 15, 1942] while fighting with the United States Marines, in the Solomon Islands, according to a message received yesterday by his father, Paul C. Boone, Sr., a veteran of World War I.
Another son of Paul Boone, Sergeant Paul C. Boone, Jr., was badly wounded during the Jap sneak attack on Pearl Harbor last December and was under hospitalization several months. He recently returned to active duty.
The youth whose death was reported yesterday joined the Marines four years ago and was in command of a machine gun squad when his parents last heard from him. His last visit home was shortly before Easter.
