BLOUNT, HAROLD L.
Harold “Les” Blount, 76, of Fort Collins, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home Walsenburg. He fought a brave battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson ’s disease.
A fellowship from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, followed by a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, Wis. Harold’s nephew, Rev. Richard Lesniak will officiate. Concluding by U.S. Marine Military Honors.
Harold Blount was born Aug. 4, 1923, in St. Paul, Minn., to Harold Walter Blount and Anna Edwards Blount.
He married Frances A. Freund on Feb. 1, 1947 in Omro, Wis.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, and a United States Marine Raider serving on Guadalcanal.
Mr. Blount was a commercial truck driver for American Can Co. After retirement he drove a school bus for field trips. Harold enjoyed his family and grandchildren very much. He liked playing golf, bowling, most of all playing racquetball with his friends at the Appleton YMCA. He lived in Fort Collins for the past year after moving from Appleton. He was a longtime member of St. Bernard’s Parish, Disabled American Veterans, Retired Members of Quarter Century Club, Teamsters and a former member of the Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Blount of Fort Collins; two sons, Douglas (Sharon) Blount of Tempe, Ariz., and Keith Blount of Butte, Mont.; one daughter, Joyce (Michael) Trujillo of Fort Collins; and three grandchildren, Leslie, Tyler, Halley Trujillo; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
His parents and brother Richard preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Mountain Chapter Alzheimer Association, or Masses in care of the family.
