BARRY, CHARLES E.
Services were held yesterday for Charles E. Barry, a retired Marine Corps master sergeant formerly of Lansdowne, who died Saturday [October 16, 1993]. He was 76 and lived in Arnold, Md.
During World War II, Barry was a member of Carlson’s Raiders and participated in campaigns against the Japanese in the Pacific, including Iwo Jima, where he was wounded. He retired in 1961 with 23 years’ service. He then worked for a time as a food service manager and chef. Barry had also lived in Upper Darby.
Barry had been active with the Masons and belonged to Solomons Lodge 3 and Delhi Grotto of Drexel Hill, where he was a past monarch.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mildred A. Vogt; two daughters, Anita Lynn Boswell and Dr. Joan Marie Coffin; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Prospectville, Montgomery County.
