BARNETT, ROBERT W.

ABERDEEN – Services for Sgt. Maj. Robert W. Barnett, 46, will be Wednesday in San Diego, Calif., with full military honors and burial in Oceanside, Calif.

Sgt. Maj. Barnett died Jan. 2 [1967] of natural causes while serving with MAG 15, Marine Air Wing in Vietnam.

A native of Aberdeen, he served for the duration of World War II with the famed Fourth [Raider] Battalion, saw action in Korea under the Fifth Battalion, was presented the Bronze Star Medal and the Oak Leaf Cluster to the Bronze Star, the Navy Commendation Medal and the Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife, Marion; two daughters, Mary Ann and Sarah of Encinitas, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Angelo of Edwards, Mrs. Ralph Reynolds of Memphis and Mrs. Paul Kirby of Chicago, Ill; two brothers, Mile Barnett of Biloxi and A. E. Barnett of Aberdeen.
