ALFORD, LEONARD W.
Capt. Leonard W. Alford, son of Mrs. W. F. Alford of Garrett, died June 17 [1945] as a result of wounds received while fighting the Japs on Okinawa.
Capt. Alford, who was 25, was serving with the U.S. Marine Corps, and had been awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action at New Georgia in the Solomon Islands in July, 1943.
A graduate of Indiana University, he was a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa fraternity.
Mrs. Oscar Taylor, former resident of Hamilton, is a sister of Capt. Alford.
