ACORD, WILSON J.

BOWDOIN – Wilson J. Acord, 74, of the Litchfield-Bowdoin Center Road, died Oct. 26, 1988, at the Kennebec Valley Medical Center, Augusta Division.

He was born in Marlow, Okla., on Nov. 26, 1913, the son of John and Della Morrison Acord.

A retired captain of the Marine Corps, he served with the Raiders in the South Pacific during World War II. He also served during the Korean War.

Mr. Acord was a member of the Lincoln County Gem and Mineral Society, the National Rifle Association, St. Leo’s Chapel in Litchfield and a former Bowdoin Town Forester.

He is survived by his wife, Joan O’Neil of Bowdoin; a son, John Acord of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. James (Danice) Thake of Bakersfield, Calif.; his mother, Della Acord Buchler of Quincy, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Walsh of Oroville, Calif.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one nephew and several nieces.

There will be no visiting hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Leo’s Chapel, Litchfield, Saturday at 10 a.m.

Contributions may be made to St. Leo’s Chapel, Litchfield, where envelopes will be available.
