ROBERTSON, JOHN D., JR.

FERNDALE, June 7– Mrs. Maxine Robertson, who has lived in Ferndale with her sister, Mrs. George A. Waldner, for two years, has received word from the Navy department that her husband, Lt. John D. Robertson, Marine Corps Reserve, was killed May 24 [1945] in action on Okinawa.

Lt. Robertson has been overseas with the 6th Marine Division for two years and had taken part in five major campaigns including Bougainville and Guam. He was injured at Guam, but had returned to duty several months ago.

The young officer was a graduate of the University of California and California Law School. And was a member of the State Bar association. Enlisting in 1942, he was commissioned at Quantico, Virginia.

He leaves also a 16-month-old daughter, Wendy, whom he has never seen; his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. John D. Robertson of Ione, California; his brothers, Lt. Andrew Robertson, who was injured in the African campaign and is now an instructor at Fort Benning, Georgia, and Lt. Rodney Robertson, stationed in North Carolina.

Another brother Lt. David Robertson was killed a year ago in a training plane near San Francisco.

Lt. Robertson had visited here and in Eureka. His wife was formerly Miss Maxine Folendorf of Eureka.
