BARRETT, STEPHEN P.

Stephen Patrick Barrett, 75, a 25-year resident of Palm Desert, died Nov. 29, 1997, at the University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1922, in Los Angeles to Lillian Vernon Watkins and Stephen James Barrett.

He married Mary Louise McDougald Barrett on March 2, 1946, in Los Angeles.

He was a retired police officer, having served 25 years with the Los Angeles Police Department.

He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was with Carlson’s Raiders and served in Guadalcanal, Midway and Bougainville.

He was a member of the Palm Desert Country Club and the Elks Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Nelson of El Segundo; a granddaughter, Stephanie Nazarian, and great-granddaughter, Devyn Nazarian, both of Oceanside.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Barrett, who died May 17, 1997.

Memorial services will be held at noon on Thursday at St. Francis of Assisi Church in La Quinta.

Interment will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.
