Leo “Leaky” Lamers, 910 Madison St., Little Chute, age 76, died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 1994. He was born June 13, 1917 in Little Chute. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and served as an usher for many years and a member of the American Legion Post 258, Little Chute. He won the Golden Gloves in 1940. He was a member of the Flying Dutchmen, he played in baseball and softball in the area for many years. He was a Marine with the Carlson Raiders. He was president, vice president and on the board of directors of the Roberts Lake Association. He was the police and fire commissioner of Little Chute and a member of the Kiwanis. Survivors include his wife, Carol (Tiedemann) Lamers; a son, Lee and Vi Lamers, Fond du Lac; a brother, Paul Lamers and his friend, Joyce, Little Chute; four sisters, Margaret and Gerald Verstegen, Neenah; Irene and Frank Brook, Kaukauna; Pearl DeGroot, Little Chute; Isabelle and Orville Romenesko, Freedom; two grandchildren, Kristina and Trisha. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Min Lamers. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday from St. John Catholic Church with Rev. John Doerfler and Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of services. Military rites will be held immediately following the funeral services. The Verkuilen Funeral Home is assisting the family. A memorial fund has been established for Alzheimer’s Research.
