OSGOOD, ALAIN A.
Alain A. Osgood, 58, of 32 Woodhill Drive, Fairfield Crest, died Sunday [April 12, 1981] in Union Hospital, Elkton, Md., after a long illness.
Mr. Osgood, a chemical engineer, had been employed the last 10 years at the Army’s Edgewood Arsenal in Edgewood, Md. He spent 10 years in Malaya as an employee of the U.S. Rubber Co. from 1949 to 1959.
During World War II, he served in the Marines as a member of Edson’s Raiders, a special reconnaissance unit.
His wife, Marcella F., died last year. He is survived by three sons, Kenneth R., Donald D. and Claude J., all of Newark; a daughter, Suzanne E. of Newark; a brother, Donald A. of New York, N.Y., and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday morning at 11 at the Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E. Main St., Newark. There will be no viewing, and burial will be private, Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Association for Retarded Citizens, P.O. Box 1869, Wilmington, Del. 19899.
