MORLEY, JOEL V.

Joel V. Morley, 73, died December 7, 1997, in Klamath Falls.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Ward’s Klamath Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Marsalli will officiate. Concluding services will follow at Klamath Memorial Park with military honors provided by Klamath Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars Pelican Post No. 1383.

Mr. Morley was born March 27, 1924, in Albany to James Morley and the former Charlotte Wallet. His family moved to Klamath Falls in 1942 and he went to work for Southern Pacific Railway Co. In January, 1943, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was wounded in action in November, 1943 and honorably discharged in December, 1945. Mr. Morley returned to Klamath Falls to his job as a clerk for Southern Pacific. He left the company in 1976. He was married September 29, 1947, to Corgia Spore in Reno, Nev.

He was a 46-year life member of the Klamath Falls Elks Lodge, a life member of the Marine Corps League, and a 50-year member of the Transportation Communications Union.

Mr. Morley enjoyed woodcutting and working in his workshop, where he made custom wooden bowls and birdhouses. He also liked to fish, hunt, and watch football games and western movies on television.

Survivors include his wife, Corgia, Klamath Falls; daughter and son-in-law, Jodie and David Ward, El Paso, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Neva and Ed Geijsbeek, Red Bluff, Calif., and Ruby and Lane Crawford, Scio; sister, Gladys DeSantola, Casselberry, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Morley.
