POWERS, BROOKS

Brooks W. Powers, 58, Cicero, owner of Powers Construction Co., and a former Indianapolis resident, died Tuesday [February 19, 1980] in Winona Memorial Hospital. A native of Petersburg, he lived in Indianapolis more than 40 years before moving to Cicero nine years ago. A member of Acardia (Ind.) American Legion Post, he had received a Presidential Citation as a member of the Marine Corps during World War II. He was on the 1939 All-City football team and attended Franklin College where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary, where friends may call after 5 p.m. today. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy J. Powers; two daughters, Mrs. Pamela Stamper and Mrs. Sandra Dyson; two sons, Brooks W. and Parris M. Powers, and his mother, Mrs. Garnet Powers.
