MONTGOMERY, AUGUST R.

August Russell Montgomery, 49 years old, of RR 21 died at St. Anthony Hospital at 11:20 a.m. Saturday [November 29, 1969]. Surviving is the wife, Oma; three sons, Murray and Harold Montgomery, at home, and John Montgomery with the U.S. Navy; a daughter, Patricia, at home; three brothers, Clarence, Paul, and William, all of Terre Haute; four sisters, Mrs. Zora Weil, Mrs. Mary Floyd and Miss Grace Montgomery, all of Terre Haute, and Mrs. Helen Culler of Clay City. The body was taken to the DeBaun Funeral Home where friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday and where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Forest Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery.

He was a veteran of World War II and member of Prairie Creek American Legion Post 404, Prairieton Masonic Lodge No. 178, F&AM, Edson’s Raiders Assn., VFW Post 972, United Commercial Travelers, Wayne Newton Last Mans Club, and served as first commander of the Wayne Newton American Legion. He was former trustee of Honey Creek Township and was presently employed with the County Welfare Dept.
