FASNACHT, ROSCOE E., JR.

Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe E. Fasnacht, 217 South Sixth Street, have received word from the War Department that their son, Pfc. Roscoe Fasnacht, Jr., has been killed in action [July 21, 1944] in the South Pacific area. Private First Class Fasnacht, of the U.S. Marines, enlisted in August, 1942, and was sent overseas about a year and a half ago.

The War Department communication gave no date of his death, or no particulars, according to his parents.

He received his training at Camp Pendleton, San Diego. A brother, Richard, is in Marine training at San Diego now.

Other survivors in addition to the parents include two brothers, Gene, at home and Wayne of Newton, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Songer of Newton, Ala., Mrs. Cliff Erwin of Richmond, and Marilyn at home.
