WILKENING, DWIGHT V.

Dwight V. Wilkening, 64, of 1507 Brentwood Terrace died last week Tuesday [April 15, 1986] at the Porter Memorial Hospital in Denver, CO.

Born July 27, 1921, in State Center, he was the son of Henry C. and Hazel Arnold Wilkening. He received his education in the State Center schools.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an antiaircraft gunner stationed at Kodiak, Alaska, from 1943 to 1945.

On March 18, 1945, he was married to Doris Hazel Holubar and they made their home in State Center until moving to Marshalltown in 1957, where they have resided since. Mr. Wilkening was employed at Fisher Controls for 42 years where he was a liaison engineer, retiring in 1982.

Preceding him in death was his father in 1975.

Mr. Wilkening was a member of Elim Lutheran Church, the Harland G. Pfantz American Legion Post No. 122, of State Center, the Fisher Foreman’s Club and the Fisher 25 Year Club.

Surviving are his wife, Doris, and a son, Larry Wilkening, of Englewood, CO. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Renee Sue Wilkening of Marshalltown, and Nicole Leigh Wilkening of Englewood, CO, and his mother, Mrs. Hazel Wilkening of State Center; two brothers and two sisters, Marion (Mrs. Homer) Harrison of Marshalltown, Virgil Wilkening of State Center, Evelyn (Mrs. Howard) Weuve of State Center, and Ronald Wilkening of Deer Park, TX, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Elim Lutheran Church Saturday with the Reverend John Allen officiating. Burial, with military honors by the Harland G. Pfantz American Legion Post No. 122 of State Center, was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

A memorial fund has been established. The Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Jim Holubar, Mike Holubar, Kevin Holubar, Pete Weuve, Roger Weuve, and Doug Wilkening.

Honorary bearers were George Knight, Dib Gould, Keith Gould, Gilbert Chinn, Earl Fouts, and Al Tullock.
