BAGGS, KELLY W.
Kelly W. Baggs, 79, 411 S. Helen St., Portland, died Saturday afternoon [February 5, 1994] at his residence. Born Aug. 14, 1914 in Portland, he was the son of Ernest and Myrtle (Kelly) Baggs. He married Feb. 14, 1946 to Margaret Gibson, who survives.
He retired in 1976 from Sheller Globe Corp. in Portland after 45 years of employment. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and the DAV. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII.
In 1997, he began maintaining a nature trail in the city park at Wayne and Third streets and regularly mowed the 1.5-mile trail, a chore that often took four days to complete. He worked on this city project until he had a stroke in 1985.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Portland chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home. Cremation will follow and burial will be in Green Park Cemetery, Portland.
