RODEITCHER, GERALD A.

Marine Pfc. Gerald A. Rodeitcher died [July 31, 1944] on a hospital ship of wounds suffered in action on either Saipan or Guam, and was buried at sea, his mother, Mrs. John Olszewski, of 146 Glendale, has been notified by the War Department. The 21-year-old Marine was a member of an amphibious unit. He was graduated from Arthur Hill Trade School in 1940 and worked at the Lufkin Rule plant at the time he enlisted, Sept. 8, 1942. He trained at San Diego and Camp Pendleton, Calif., before going to the South Pacific in February 1943. He was born in Saginaw Oct. 15, 1922, and was a member of St. George’s Catholic Church. He leaves his mother and his grandmothers, Mrs. Peter Baybeck and Mrs. Marie Gaertner, both of Saginaw.
