SHANNAHAN, CLAUDE E. V.

Mr. Claude E. Shannahan, age 94 of Harrison Township, passed away Thursday morning [March 3, 2016] in his home. He was born on August 7, 1921 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, a son of the late William and Estella (Findlay) Shannahan. Claude was united in marriage with Margaret Alice Barry on June 7, 1947 in St. Louis Catholic Church in Clinton Township. Mrs. Shannahan passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2002 in Clinton Township. Claude was a member of St. Hubert Catholic Church in Harrison Township. He enjoyed horseshoe pitching and bowling. Claude was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in World War II. He retired from Chrysler Corporation as a production controller. Mr. Shannahan is survived by four children; Michael (Sandra), Kathy (Raymond) Hamlin, Barry (Rose) and Colleen (Marvin) Hewson; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Yvonne Neumann and Sharon (Thomas) O’Callaghan. Claude was predeceased by a son, Patrick and siblings, William and Irene. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. (visitation at church at 10:30 a.m.) at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 38775 Prentiss Street, Harrison Township with Monsignor Ricardo Bass officiating. Military Honors will follow the Mass.
