FEELER, WOODROW A.
The body of Cpl. Woodrow A. Feeler, U.S.M.C., son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Feeler, will arrive in Rolla tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. He was killed in action in the battle for Okinawa on April 14, 1945.
Cpl. Feeler was born in Maries County, Mo., on October 27, 1917, and was reared on a farm in Phelps County where he spent the greater part of his life. He was educated in the schools of this county.
He was employed by the Swift Packing Co. in St. Louis prior to enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps on April 9, 1942. He received training at Camp Pendleton, California, and went overseas in March, 1943.
Cpl. Feeler served with the famed 6th Marine Division in its many campaigns in the Pacific area. He was killed in the latter phase of the war.
Survivors include his parents; one brother, Amos of St. Louis; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Riley of Rolla, and Mrs. Lloyd Otis of St. Louis and a number of other relatives.
After arriving in Rolla the remains will be taken by escort to Null and Sons Funeral Home to lie in state. Military services will be held at Macedonia Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by members of the Rolla posts of the V.F.W. and American Legion, the V.F.W. post of Edgar Springs, and the Rolla Marine League.
