BENAGH, HENRY W. C.

Henry Collier Benagh died at his home Thursday, April 30, 1998 of lung cancer and respiratory complications. A Nashville native, he was the son of Henry Richardson and Bessie Beal Benagh. Born November 7, 1922, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. His professional life was spent in the airline industry—11 years with American Airlines and 31 years with Nashville-based international carrier Capital Air. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christine Langseth Benagh; daughters, the Hon. Christine P. Benagh of Washington, D.C., Barbara Benagh of Brooklyn, MA, Mary Benagh O’Neil of Nashville; 1 son, Henry C. Benagh, Jr. of Miltown Malbay, Ireland and 3 grandchildren; 1 sister, Harriette Benagh Evans of Sun City West, AZ; 2 brothers, Joseph Benagh of Austin, TX and Colonel (Ret.) Thomas M. Benagh of San Antonio, TX. Visitation will be at Marshall Donnelly Combs from 6-9 p.m. on Monday evening, May 4, 1998, with the Trisagian sung at 7:30 p.m. by Fr. George Vaporis. Funeral services will be conducted by Fr. Nick Vieron of Memphis at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 1998 with burial at Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers: Ward Allen, George Anderson, Archie Casity, Courtney Knox, Constantine Nicholson, Frederick Preuss, John S. Sanders and Harold L. Weatherby. Honorary pallbearers: Marty Kaufman, Larry Wasko, Mark Hutchinson, Eugene Sweeney and Robert Sears. Memorial gifts may be made to the Building Fund of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Alive Hospice or the charity of your choice.
