FRAZIER, ADRIAN S.
MASSENA — Adrian S. Frazier (Sam) passed away quietly October 31, 2015, surrounded by his family.
Sam was born on July 23, 1922, in Lester, Massachusetts, and grew up in the Worchester area.
He joined the Marine Corps prior to the start of WWII and became a member of the elite Marine Raiders. He saw action in several battles throughout the South Pacific.
Based upon his heroic or meritorious achievement in combat, he was awarded a Bronze Star.
Following his military service, he graduated from radio engineering school in Kansas City, Kansas, and found a position as a radio engineer with WMSA in Massena.
Sam worked for WMSA for 36 years and retired as the station Manager.
During his time with WMSA, he was selected as part of a Marine special detachment that had him sailing on a Navy LST as a part of Marine recruitment drive.
He also won a national award for his medical advice program and is still remembered for “Sam’s Wonderful World of 78s.”
Sam has always been an avid supporter of Massena’s High School sports and was elected into the Massena Sports Hall of Fame.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Jean T. Frazier, who died in 1997 and their daughter, Jo Ann Kennedy.
He is survived by his daughter Adrianne Bear, of Magnolia Texas, and his son, Doug Frazier (D. A. Bass-Frazier) of Mobile, Alabama. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 8 great- great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Massena Center Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, followed by a reception at the Massena Community Center on Beach St.
