RICE, BERNARD
Bernard Rice [December 1, 2000] was the youngest son of Abe and Lena Rice, with three older sisters, Sara, Ruth and Bertha. He received his undergraduate degree from George Washington University, before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He received his PhD in chemistry from the University of Chicago in 1948. He had a distinguished career as a professor of chemistry at St. Louis University until his retirement in 1984. He married Emily Cronheim in 1954. Together they raised five children in Clayton. Bernard had a strong sense of compassion for others, and was very interested in Jewish affairs.
