STANLEY, WALTER G.

Walter George Stanley, 80 years, of School Street, died Monday, August 15, 2005 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH.

Walter was born June 17, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of John and Marie Huddy Stanley.

After attending Philadelphia schools, Walter proudly served his country during WWII in the Marines.

Walter was a machinist by trade, working for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Pratt and Whitney of Hartford, CT, and the New Departure Company of Bristol, CT. He also served as Chief Financial Officer for Witches Cove Marina of Rye, NH for seven years.

Walter was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed collecting guns. He was also an avid reader and loved animals.

He is predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Fall Stanley.

Survivors include his daughters, Charlene M. Kiss and her husband Nelson of Vassalboro, ME, Ruthie Stanley and her companion Kenneth Whitehouse of Dover, NH, Pauline E. Grippo and her husband Donald of Windham, CT, and Priscilla Dalrymple and her husband Clifford of Lebanon, ME; his son, Paul M. Stanley and his wife Michele of Middletown, CT; his sister, Connie Gregoire of Somersworth, NH; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6-8 pm Tuesday, August 16 and from 10-11 AM Wednesday, August 17, at the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main Street, South Berwick, ME, where a funeral service will follow at 11 AM Wednesday with Reverend Donna Muise officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick, ME.
