SIMONS, MALCOLM E.

Malcolm E. Simons, 94, of Largo, passed away peacefully at his home Jan. 26, 2016. “Mal” was born April 8, 1921, in Fulton, NY. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; daughter, Pam Moffett (Bob); and a large extended family, Jimmie and Sue Carroll, Ronnie Carroll, Marcy and Greg Williams, Renee’ and Bruce White, Clifford and Deb Riendeau, Kerry and Evelyn Lisee. He was predeceased by parents, Velma and Carl Simons; brothers, Howdy and Merlin Simons; sister, Gloria Lyons; and wives, Mildred Simons and Martha Simons. Mal worked in corporate sales in Troy, NY, and retired from the Pinellas school system as a maintenance supervisor. Mal served in the U.S. Marine Corps as Master Gunnery Sergeant in WWII and the Korean War being a member of the renowned Edson Raiders. He received two Purple Hearts and fought with the Raiders in the Battle of Bloody Ridge on Guadalcanal. A memorial service will be held at VFW Post 10094, 14268 Walsingham Road, Largo 33774, Sunday, Jan. 31, 2 pm. A committal with military honors will be held at Bay Pines VA Cemetery at a later date. ‘”Semper Fi’”
