JOHNSON, WILLIAM R.
William R. “Bud” Johnson, age 78, of Dublin, Indiana, died Monday, October 18, 2004 at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services in Richmond, Indiana.
William was born on November 16, 1925 in Troy, New York, the son of Peter Michael and Jennie Miller Johnson. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Earlham College taking business education and attended classes at IU East in Richmond, Indiana.
He was a Corporal serving in the U.S. Marine Corps Raiders from 1942 to 1945. He was employed at Bertsch & Company in Cambridge City, Indiana for 34 years.
He was a member of the LeRoy Tout American Legion Post #338, Dublin, Indiana.
He and his wife Betty joined the Volunteer Christian Builders and trained with them for 9 years building churches in every state. They attended Grace Baptist Church in New Castle and were former members of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge City, Indiana.
Survivors include his wife whom he married on August 26, 1945, Betty Baker Johnson; 3 sons, Neal (Vicki) Johnson of Hastings, Michigan, Dennis (Diane) Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia and Kent (Susan) Johnson of Portland, Oregon; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Clark of Bear Mountain, California; brother-in-law, Jim Duker of the state of Washington.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Johnson Duker.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2004 at the Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City, Indiana with Pastor Denny Neal officiating.
Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin, Indiana.
Friends may call from 12:00 noon until service time at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 at the funeral home.
