HALCOMB, CHESTER
Major Chester Halcomb, 81, retired U.S. Marine Corps, passed away on May 13 [2001] at Hemet Valley Hospital from lung and heart failure.
Born in London, Kentucky, Mr. Halcomb lived in Hemet twenty-five years. Major Halcomb was a Pearl Harbor Survivor on the “Lucky Lou’” U.S.S. St. Louis.
Mr. Halcomb is survived by his wife, Dorothy L Halcomb; two sons, Greg Halcomb of Hemet, Chet Halcomb of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Robin Halcomb of Hemet; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a brother, Orville Halcomb of Springfield, MO.
Memorial services will be at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet Thursday, May 17 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
The Pearl Harbor Survivors will be his honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Society.
