JONES, RAYMOND O. W.
Raymond Obed Walter Jones, Sr., 70, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, formerly of Houston, died Monday, June 12, 1995 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born September 17, 1915 at Bloomington, Texas, the son of Obed Walter and Harriet Josephine Clements Jones. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II where he was a Carlson Raider. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2397. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Raider Association, the American Legion Post No. 27 and a member of Operating Engineers local union No. 450 for 44 years. He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Paul Jones of Houston, Texas, Raymond O. W. Jones, Jr. of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two daughters, Cynthia M. Krueger of Nacogdoches, Texas, Barbara D. Lettiere of Freeport, Texas; a brother, Paul Jones of Palmer, Alaska; a sister, Ida Mae Schultz of Kingsville, Texas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five nephews and five nieces. Graveside service: 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 16 at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel. Eulogy: John Wm. Murphy.
