HORSFALL, ERNEST A.
Ernest A. Horsfall, of Manahawkin, died July 22 [1997] after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Ruth Reinhardt Horsfall; two daughters, Deborah Chandler Kanev of Brant Beach and Sally Woehr of West Creek and two grandchildren, Margaret and Frederic Chandler of Oakland.
Mr. Horsfall served in the U.S. Marine Corps, First Raider Battalion (Edson’s Raiders) in the South Pacific. He was a member of VFW Barnegat Light Post 3729, the Livingston-West Orange Lodge 205 F&AM, and the Fawn Lakes Men’s Club.
Born in Lancashire, England, Mr. Horsfall lived in West Orange and Livingston before moving to Long Beach Island and Manahawkin. He was employed by Essex County as county forester before retiring in 1974.
Friends may call at the Bugbee Riggs Funeral Home, Ship Bottom, at noon on Sunday, July 27. Masonic services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Horsfall’s ashes will be interred in the Raider Battalion section of the USMC National Cemetery, Quantico, Va.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Beach Haven First Aid Squad.
