DAHL, RAYMOND

Raymond Dahl, 76, of North 43rd Avenue West, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in the St. Paul Veterans Hospital.

He was born in Duluth and served in the Marine Corps during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was an active member and past commander of the West End VFW Post 137, past commander of District 8 VFW, member of the Marine Raider Association, National Rifle Association and the Cooties. He also served as a firearm safety instructor and as the Santa Claus for the VFW, nursing homes and for many gatherings of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Marie; sisters Effie Headla, Martha Frazer and Nellie Frazer; and brothers, Carl and Donald.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth “Betty”; sons, Christopher of San Francisco and Andrew of Longmont, Colo.; brothers, Lester (Bea) of Yuma, Ariz., Warren (Wanda) of Marshall, Minn., and Russell (Karen) of Lander, Wyo.; sisters, Amy Olsen of Marshall and Dorothy (Robert) Keager of Duluth; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Bell Brothers Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Military honors will be accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors, Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W.
