MORTON – Steven Aleksich, 80, of 209 White Oak Drive, died at 7:48 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.

Services were held at 11 this morning at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria. The Rev. Michael Condos officiated. Cremation was accorded.

Inurnment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.

Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Medical Center of Illinois Hospice Services in Peoria.

He was born April 7, 1920, in Peoria to Joseph and Matilda Boda Aleksich.

Surviving are three sisters, Anna Martin of East Peoria, Helen Hutchins of Pekin and Cora Sersen of Morton and one niece.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bradley University in Peoria in 1955.

Aleksich worked as a mechanical engineer for McDonnell Douglas, retiring in 1990.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving with the 3rd Raider Battalion.

He was a life member of the U.S. Marine Raider Association, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
