LAMB, CHARLES T.
Retired Marine Lt. Col. Charles Thomas Lamb, a 30-year military veteran and a native of England, died yesterday [September 23, 1985] in a Portsmouth hospital after a long illness. He was 80.
Col. Lamb, who joined the Marine Corps in 1923, was awarded the Navy Cross for heroism at Makin Island during World War II. In the Pacific Theater, he was the executive officer of the 2nd Raider Battalion, 1st Division. He also served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Tempie Madell Lamb of Reedville; and a sister, Mrs. Helen L. Christopenson of Guelph, Ontario.
A service will be held at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Jones-Ash Funeral Home in Rainswood, with burial at Arlington National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday with military honors.
