HAGAN, PAUL N.

Paul N. Hagan, 84, of Newburgh, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 24 [2004], at his home.

Paul retired from Alcoa Warrick Operations as a maintenance supervisor after 19 years of service. He continued working as a consultant on special jobs for a number of years thereafter. Prior to Alcoa, he worked at Bendix Westinghouse for 9 years, and Servel for 18 years.

Paul was a World War II veteran, having served from April 22, 1942-November 1,1944 with the U. S. Marine Corps as a member of the elite “Raiders.” He was a member of the 2nd Battalion under Lt. Colonel Evans Carlson in the South Pacific — Guadalcanal, Pavuvu, Solomon Islands.

Paul was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. He belonged to the Evansville Lodge No. 64 F. & A. M., receiving his 50-year pin on September 17, 2002. He also was a member of the Hadi Shrine for 24 years and a member of the VFW

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bettie Jean (Hanor), his daughter, Beverly Lowey Gibbs, a son, Dennis (wife Jenny) Hagan of Newburgh. He is survived by 8 grandchildren: Lisa Haefner, Lori and her husband Andy Ricketts, Brenda Miller, Bryan Paul Gibbs, John Paul Hagan, Shawn Hagan, Laci Detalente, and Cheryl. Great-grandchildren: Tracy and her husband Jared Smith, Olivia Ricketts, Adam Ricketts, Reid-Haefner, James Detalente, Colin Detalente. Great Great Granddaughter: Maddilyn Jewel Smith. Brothers: Odie Hagan, Glendale, New York; Reverend Robert Hagan, Owensboro, Ky. Sister: Ann Huff, Kentucky.

Paul was preceded in death by his son, Terry Michael Hagan (2001), his parents Odie and Edith (Pfingston) Hagan, sisters: Mary Kaiser, Lucy Greer, Connie Coligon, brothers: James, John, and Dick Hagan.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 29, 2004 at First Southern Baptist Church, 25 S. Cullen Avenue with Reverend Don Moore officiating. Private burial will be in New Clay Cemetery in Clay, Kentucky. The United States Marine Corps from Terre Haute, Indiana will conduct military rites at the church with the Vanderburgh Retired Veterans Club conducting the 21 Gun Salute.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Boone Funeral Home, East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue. A Masonic service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Funeral Home. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at First Southern Baptist Church.
