FOWLER, THOMAS W.
KERRVILLE – Graveside services for Mr. Thomas William Fowler, age 78, of Kerrville, who died Tuesday, Sept, 22, 1998, in a local hospital, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at Memory Park Cemetery in Longview, Texas, with Dr. Laney Johnson officiating. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at the Chapel of Overby Funeral Home. A family visitation will be held at 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, at the Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
Tom was born May 20, 1920 in Opelika, Texas, to Squire W. Fowler and Eva Page Fowler. He served in the Marine Corps from July 26, 1940 until Sept. 29, 1945, graduating from the University of Houston on Aug. 30, 1949 with a degree in accounting. He had subsequent careers with Humble Oil Company, McGraw Hill Publishing Company and State Farm Insurance. He married Millie Corsello in Garden Grove, Calif., June 20, 1964, and was a State Farm agent in Daly City, Calif., from 1970 until his retirement in 1989. It gave him great pleasure to recruit dedicated young agents for his company. He derived great pride in their successes. He had been a resident of Kerrville since 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Millie; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ethel Chase of Alpine, Utah; grandchildren, Michelle and Michael; son, Lynn Chase of Tucson, Ariz.; daughters, Patsy R. Brautigam and Peggy Fowler of Houston; five step-grandchildren, Lynette Stringham, Helen and Dale Swain, Laurie and Mike O’Neal, Ben and Kristi Chase of Utah, and Penny Pope of California; sisters, Edythe Miller and Virginia Lindsey of Longview, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Jenny Corsello and Philip and Joann Corsello of Wellsville, Ohio; sisters-in-law Ruth Ann Corsello of Summerville, S.C., and Mary E. Corsello of Redwood City, Calif.; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and 17 great-step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Faye Carver, Lois Hadaway, Thelma Shaver and Evelyn Keeney; brothers, Marion Fowler, Cullen (Bud) Fowler and Maurice Fowler.
Tom enjoyed sports, music and conquering challenging crossword puzzles. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, singing gospel songs around the organ. He will be fondly remembered by all for his quick wit and unselfish kindness to his fellowman.
