NYBY, EDWIN P.
PLENTYWOOD –Ed Nyby, 52, died Wednesday [June 10, 1975] of a gunshot wound. The incident is under investigation by the Sheridan County sheriff.
He was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Medicine Lake, the son of Jens and Kristine Nyby. He grew up in Dagmar and attended schools there and also Antelope High School.
Mr. Nyby[entered] the Marine Corps in the fall of 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After his discharge in the fall of 1945, he returned to Northeastern Montana.
He married Thelma Dahl Feb. 7, 1947, in Plentywood. They had lived in Plentywood since. He worked as a carpenter and contractor.
Mr. Nyby was a member of the Butch Liebach Post No. 4018 of VFW.
Survivors include the widow; the parents of Dagmar; two sons, Edwin and Neil, both of Plentywood; four daughters, Mrs. Caroline Twichel of Portland, Ore., Mary Feeley of Helena, Mrs. Laura Cobian of Baldwin, N.Y., and Jane of the family home; two brothers, Ken of Dagmar and Cal of Mesa, Wash. And a grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Plentywood Lutheran Church, Rev. Herb Knutsen officiating. Burial will be in Plentywood Memorial Cemetery.
