SWANSTROM, CHAROL D.
PECATONICA — Charol D. Swanstrom, 55, of Pecatonica, died at 3:30 a.m. this morning [October 28, 1977] at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was a lifelong Pecatonica resident and was employed by the E & W Clothing House in Freeport seven years. Prior to that he was in partnership in Hobson’s Department Store in Pecatonica 25 years.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater with the Marine Corps. He wasw a member of First Lutheran Church in Pecatonica and the Pecatonica American Legion, was a trustee on the Pecatonica Village Board, a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Freeport.
Born Feb. 16, 1922, in Pecatonica, he was the son of Ben and Ann (Nord) Swanstrom. He married Marion Eichman Oct. 12, 1947, in Rockford.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Nord and James; a daughter, Nancy, all of Pecatonica.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joseph A. Miller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pecatonica Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Knapp Funeral Home, Pecatonica.
A memorial fund has been established.
