JAMES, ALFRED C.

Rites were held Monday morning in the chapel of Tustin Mortuary for Alfred C. James, 41, 157 Pacific St., who died Oct. 1 [1964]. James was one of seven to return safely out of 37 who volunteered to raise the American flag on battle-worn Iwo Jima in 1945. The Rev. Durward Dady, Greenville Country Church, Santa Ana, was the officiant, and burial took place in Fairhaven Memorial Park. James is survived by: his widow, Dorothy, and children, Patricia and David, of the home.
