FLYNN, JOHN J.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) – Phoenix attorney John J. Flynn, best known for successfully arguing the Miranda case before the U.S. Supreme Court, died Saturday [January 26, 1980] after an apparent heart attack after skiing in northern Arizona. He was 55.

Flynn was pronounced dead at 12:20 p.m. at Flagstaff Community Hospital. An autopsy was ordered by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said Flynn had just finished a skiing lesson at the Snow Bowl near here when he was stricken.
