PORTER, ROBERT J.

Robert Jay Porter, 93, of Harrison Township, passed away at Beaumont Hospital – Troy on July 17, 2014. Born October 12, 1920 in Binghamton, NY, Robert lived in the Macomb County area for 30 years. He was a crane operator for Operating Engineers Local 324 and was associated with the VFW for many years. Robert was a Marine and served his country during WWII in the South Pacific. He spent many days fishing with his family on Lake St. Clair and enjoyed baking pies for family and friends. Robert is survived by daughter Cynthia (Charles) Hinson; sister Dorothy Pleiness; grandchildren Chad (Amy), Robert, and Christine; great-grandchildren Corinne and Mackenzie. Robert is predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Emily; his brother Leroy. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wm. R. Hamilton Co.-Mount Clemens on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 2 – 7 pm. A private family burial will occur at a later date. Please make donations to the Michigan Humane Society.
