SILVEIRA, RONALD F.
Two Oakland men were killed and a third was injured earlier today [April 21, 1961] when their speeding auto skidded 150 feet sideways and crashed into a power pole at 14th Ave. and E. 30th St.
The victims, who were pronounced dead at nearby Highland Hospital, are Donald A. Kane, 25, assistant manager of a service station who lived at 4027 San Juan Ave. and Ronald F. Silveira, 34, a carpenter of 2936 Schyler St.
They were passengers in the car driven by Joseph V. Maes Jr., 22, a service station attendant of 3015 Bartlett St. He suffered multiple abrasions and contusions.
The three men were thrown to the pavement when the sedan wrapped itself around the pole.
Oakland police patrolman Jack Anderson said the car was apparently speeding at more than 50 miles an hour on 14th Ave. when it went out of control.
