WRIGHT, BILLIE R.

Corporal Billy Robert Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wright of Groesbeck and grandson of J. S. Gayden, was killed in action on the island of Okinawa April 2 [1945], so General A. A. Vandegrift, commandant of the Marine Corps, has notified the family.

A 1942 Groesbeck High School graduate, he enlisted in the Marines February 9, 1943, and had been wounded several months ago.

Corporal Wright is the youngest of four sons in service from this family. Pvt. Grady Wright is now in the Pacific, Lt. Sidney Wright in the Philippines, and Cpl. James Wright at a Marine station in North Carolina.

Other survivors include a younger brother, Stanley, a sister, Mary Elizabeth.
