LOWRY, HAROLD E.
Pfc. Harold E. Lowry of the Marine Corps, age 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Lowry of Madera, California, formerly of Cullman, has been reported killed in action [July 27, 1944] in the South Pacific war zone according to a message from the War Department to his parents which they received Saturday, August 19.
Pfc. Lowry graduated from the Madera High School in 1937 and was associated with his father, W. C. Lowry, in the carpentry business prior to his enlistment in the Marines in May 1942. He was called for Service June 16, 1942 and left for oversea duty Oct. 27, 1943. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church at New Hope Church in Madera. His home was in Cullman until about 9 years ago when he moved with his parents to California.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Lowry, and five brothers, Hewett, serving with the Army, Horace, employed in defense work at the shipyards, Howard, a rancher and Henry and Harry, school students.
