TOLES, EVERETT T.

Everett Thurl Toles, age 86, of Connersville passed away Friday November 16, 2007 at the emergency room of Fayette Regional Health System. He was born January 31, 1921 in Marion, IN, the son of Ross and Juanita Floy Hoggett Toles, both of whom precede him in death. He is a 1939 graduate of Rushville High School and attended Purdue University. He is a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving during WW II. He attained the rank of Corporal and was an acting Gunnery Sergeant. He fought in the South Pacific. He served in the 4th Battalion and was a Marine Raider. He was proud of the fact that his name appears on the wall of honor at the Marine Raider museum in Quantico, VA. He is a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and a past president and board member of the FATE Center. He is a former member of the American Legion. From 1946 to 1960 he owned and operated Toles Heating and Air Conditioning in Connersville. He later lived in California where he worked at North American Rockwell and the Anaheim Stadium and Convention Center for 6 years. Upon returning to Connersville he worked at Cain Heating and Cooling for 6 years. He was then employed with GTE for 14 years until retirement in 1991. Following retirement he was self-employed for several years maintaining the heating and cooling systems at area cell phone towers. He is survived by his wife Judy Spino Toles to whom he was married on November 9, 1947 in Spring Lake, N.J. He is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law Rhonda Carol & Paul E. Allen, Richmond; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce S. & Erika Toles, Connersville, 4 grandchildren, Stephen Toles, Ashley Toles, Elizabeth Toles, and Christina McCarty and three great-grandchildren and three nieces. He is preceded in death by a son Mark M. Toles; a grandson Brett Ross Toles; and a sister Joan Greene. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Peterson of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery with military services by the Fayette County Veteran’s Council. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church.
