TATUM, ROBERT

Bob Tatum died peacefully at home on December 3rd [2012] after a long battle with heart disease.

For the last couple of years, he was lovingly cared for by his son Mike and his wife of 67 years, Peggy.

Bob told her every day how much he loved her and that she was the most beautiful girl in the world.

Bob was born in New York City in 1924. In 1941, he enlisted in the USMC and fought in World War II. While he was stationed at MCAS, Cherry Point, North Carolina, he sent for his sweetheart and there he and Peggy Fitzgerald were married on August 30, 1945. Together they have two daughters, Patt Moore and Kathie Ferguson and four sons, Bob, Mike, John and Tom. They also have 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Their grandson Simon lived with them also.

Bob and Peggy moved to California in 1959 while he was still in the Corps and have been parishioners of Holy Family Catholic Church since 1967 where they have been active members ever since.

After retiring from the Marines in 1964, he worked for the U.S. Post Office until 1989. After retirement, he volunteered at DCRC in La Jolla.

A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1957 Coolidge St. 92111. Interment will follow at Greenwood Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Ave, San Diego, 92113.
