STRINGER, HUGH A.
Hugh A. “Barney” Stringer, 83, Concord, N.H., and a former resident of Englewood, died Nov. 20, 2002, in Concord, N.H. He was born Jan. 18, 1919, in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, and grew up and attended schools in Mountain Lakes, N.J. He earned his mechanical engineering degree from the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark. He retired to Florida from New England. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of the Edson Raiders Battalion and participated in action at Guadalcanal. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; son Arthur of Alexander City, Ala.; daughters Judith Pellerin of Hinesburg, Vt., Sally Elkins of Shelburne, Vt., and Nancy Fiske of Bow, N.H.; and nine grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord, N.H.
