SCHERTING, HARRY N.

Harry N. Scherting, 60, of White Street, Lambertville, Mich., a former professional baseball player, died yesterday [September 10, 1985] in his home.

Mr. Scherting, who played in the Texas League from 1947 to 1953, had played with numerous league teams, including those in the Brooklyn Dodgers farm system.

He had been employed 25 years at Mohr Brothers Bottling Co. and retired in 1976.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. While living in St. Louis, he drove the Budweiser Clydesdale promotional wagon for Anheuser-Busch, Inc., for eight years.

He moved to Toledo in 1949.

Surviving are his wife, Grace; sons, Joseph, Stephen, David, and Jeffrey; daughters, Mrs. Mary Busdicker, Mrs. Sandra Godfrey, Mrs. Cynthia Mehling, Mrs. Marcia Hummer, and Beth; brothers, Joseph and Nicholas, and sisters, Mrs. Marie Gass and Mrs. Louise McAllister.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Clement Church.

The body will be in the Jasin Mortuary after 7 tonight, with American Legion services at 7 p.m. tomorrow and recitation of the Rosary at 7:30.

The family requests that any tributes be in the form of contributions to the northwest Ohio chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
