Final rites for Marlin Samuel (Tommy) Samples, 53, of Nashville, Tenn. and formerly of Pemberton will be conducted by the Rev. R. C. Browning at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Sophia. Burial will be in the Pemberton Cemetery.

Samples died in a Nashville hospital at 2:30 a.m. Thursday [October 2, 1975] after a long illness.

He was born in Raleigh County Feb. 28, 1922 and was a son of the late Burt T. and Willie Cloud Samples.

He is survived by four brothers, James of Petersburg, Va., Frank of Houston, Tex., Harold of Cumberland, Md. and William of Columbus, Ohio, and four sisters, Jane (Mrs. Robert) Bell of Nashville. Tenn., Anne (Mrs. Francis) Miller of Beckley, Helen (Mrs. Edward ) Kennedy of Columbus, Ohio and Kathleen (Mrs. George) Gordon of Aberdeen, N.C.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Pallbearers will be Otis Smith, Marcus Brooks, Calvin Cadle, Kelly Brammer Jr., Lee Whittaker, and Walter Meadows.
