WOJTON, MICHAEL S.

Michael S. Wojton Sr., 77, of Long Neck and formerly of Trappe, Pa., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at home.

Mr. Wojton served as a private first class in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a commercial installation supervisor for the former Western Electric Company of Delaware County, retiring in 1980 after more than 30 years of service.

He was a member and usher at Mary, Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Oak Orchard, and former member of St. Eleanor Catholic Church, Collegeville, Pa. He was a fourth degree member and former treasurer of Council 11285, Knights of Columbus, Millsboro; a member and former treasurer of the Diamond State Detachment, Marine Corps League; a member of the Delaware Chapter, Military Order of Devil Dogs; the U.S. Marine Raider Association; the Oak Orchard/Riverdale Post 28, American Legion; the AARP Chapter 4903, Long Neck, where he was a Sussex County coordinator for volunteer tax preparers; the Cape Henlopen Senior Center, Rehoboth Beach; Elks USA Chapter 2540, Cape Henlopen; and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was a former member and president of Trappe Borough Council; a member and former treasurer of the Trappe Fire Company, where he was honored as Fireman of the Year; a former crew member for the Trappe Ambulance; and a former Trappe Borough Democratic committeeman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Garay Wojton; a brother, Walter Wojton; and two sisters, Helen Cauffman and Jean Morrott.

He is survived by two sons, David Wojton of Douglass Twp., Pa. and Michael Wojton Jr. of Myersville, Md.; two daughters, Sandy Miller of Washington Twp., Pa. and Dorrie McGonigal of Lower Pottsgrove Twp., Pa.; four brothers, John Wojton of Spring City, Pa., Joseph Wojton of Pottstown, Pa., Henry Wojton of Upper Providence Twp., Pa. and Thaddeus Wojton of Glenmore, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, Collegeville, with burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove, Pa.
