WIX, WILLIAM W.

William W. Wix, age 84, of 506 N. Maple Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital’s Palliative Care, Marshfield, after a very long courageous battle with C.O.P.D.

A private family memorial service will be held at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.

William was born July 15, 1922, in Stratford, to Frank and Ellen (Bean) Wix and was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he was employed at the Marathon County Highway Department. He then was employed at Rollohome Company, Marshfield, and later at Marshfield Homes, until his retirement.

He and Elaine M. Hartle were united in marriage May 13, 1961, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Rozellville.

Bill enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing and was an avid sports fan. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and by two daughters, Pam Langreck and Tammy Schmitt, all of Marshfield. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Melissa and Jessica Schmitt and Tyler and Kaitlyn Langreck. He is further survived by two sisters, Betty Martin of Stratford and Norma Engstrom of Edgar.

He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Murray, Gordon and Frank Wix Jr.; and a sister, Carmen Lunger.
