WILLHAUCK, EVERETTE I.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Detective E. B. (Salty) Meals said an 18-year-old advertising firm employee admitted he shot and killed one of his employers Sunday night [February 22, 1959] to climax a jealous feud.
Delano Fite told police he pumped two bullets into Everette I. Willhauk, 34, in his office. Fite said the shooting was self defense.
No charge has been filed.
Fite said his feud with Willhauck arose over Fite’s relationship with Mrs. Connie Logan, 37-year-old partner with Willhauck in an advertising firm.
He said Willhauck had threatened to kill him and Mrs. Logan if they continued to see each other.
He told officers he touched off the Sunday shooting when he telephoned Mrs. Logan at the office. He said Willhauck jerked the phone away from her and told him not to call the woman again.
Later, Fite told police, he met Willhauck at the advertising office. He said Willhauck pointed a gun at him and commanded “make your play.”
Fite said he brushed aside Willhauck’s gun just as it discharged and he fired in return.
